Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner - Remove and Install".
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin. |

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Loosen hose clamp (1) and remove the hose.

- Remove two bolts (2) and the retaining plates.
- Remove elbow (3) and inspect O-ring seal (4) for wear or damage. If the O-ring seal is worn or damaged, replace the O-ring seal with a new part.

- Loosen fitting (5) .

- Remove two bolts (6) and tube (7) .
- Loosen hose clamp (8) .
- Remove four nuts (9) and turbocharger (10) from the exhaust manifold.

- Remove the gasket and any gasket material from the mating surface of turbocharger (10). Replace the gasket.
