ACTION REQUIRED
If one cylinder rod fails, you may need to exchange the rod of other cylinders in that grapple as well. To identify which other cylinders in the grapple may be produced with the wrong specifications, please check the cylinder identification numbers on the tube of the cylinders. Example: If the identification number on the tube of the cylinder is ?10/K/G.T.? it means it?s produced in Week 10 of 2014 (K = 2014, L = 2015, M = 2016). In some cases there is an ?H? stamped behind the identification number. Cylinders that DON?T need replacement: - Have a production date of 42/M/G.T. (Week 42 of 2016) or higher. - Have an ?H? stamped behind the identification numbers, regardless of the production date. All other cylinders may contain cylinder rods that are produced with the wrong specification and can be replaced with this SL. Rods that are produced according to the wrong specifications are expected the have the same fatigue life as the failed rod. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR9907, "Shell Assembly - Remove" and "Shell Assembly - Install". Remove the 231-5809 Cylinder from the shell assembly. Remove the 231-5818 Cylinder Head. Remove the set screw and 231-5814 Piston from the 449-9339 Rod. If unable to remove the piston, cut through the rod. If piston can be reused, it is not needed to order 231-5814 Piston and 8T-0351 Set Screw. New rod: Assemble 8T-0333 Bearing on the rod eye and lock the bearing with 8T-9599 Retainer Ring . Assemble 220-3592 Damper Kit in the rod. Apply thread locker to thread. Tightening should not exceed 40 Nm. Refer to Image 1. Assemble the cylinder head, new rod, new piston and seals. Apply thread locker to thread. Tighten the piston to 200 + 20 Nm. No gap is allowed between the rod and piston. Drill a hole to assemble the set screw, D = 6.8-A, L = 33 mm. Refer to Image 2. Cut tread in the hole, D = M8 x 1.25-6H, L = 29 mm. Assemble the M8 socket set screw. Apply thread locker to thread. Tighten 8T-0351 Socket Set Screw to 10 + 2 Nm. Assemble the cylinder. Assemble the cylinder to the shell assembly. Repeat untill all cylinder rods have been replaced. |
