Proper Tensioning Of V-Belt Improves Air-Conditioning Compressor Service Life {1807,7320,1800}

All Caterpillar Machines Equipped With Air Conditioning
Proper tensioning of 1/2 inch V-belts improves air-conditioner compressor life. A 144-0235 Belt Tension Gauge should be used to measure the tension on the V-belt. A new V-belt should be initially tightened to a tension of 533 ± 22 N (120.0 ± 5.0 lbs). The new V-belt should be adjusted after 30 minutes of operation. The tension should be adjusted to 400 ± 44 N (90.0 ± 10.0 lbs). Belts that have been in use should also be adjusted to 400 ± 44 N (90.0 ± 10.0 lbs). Incorrect tensioning may lead to V-belt slippage causing the compressor to fail prematurely.
