Procedure To Increase Swing Frame Service Life{6506}

Usage:

5230 (7LL) Excavators

A section has been removed from the swing frame to prevent cracking on the 5230 Excavators. Field experience has shown that the swing frame may crack at the swing frame top rail to front casting weld.

Rework Procedure

NOTICE

Do not cut top rail of swing frame.

Use the following illustrations, photographs and charts to rework the swing frame.

NOTE:

* All dimensions given are minimums.
* All corners should have 3 mm (.12 in) radii.
* All surfaces in the reworked regions should be ground smooth.
* No welding is permitted away from the existing weld region.
* If necessary, dressing of the existing weld is permitted.
* Welds call for 7018 low Hydrogen electrode or equivalent.
