Installation Procedure

  1. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  1. Lubricate O-ring seals with clean hydraulic fluid.

  1. Place O-ring seals (13) into position on gerotor motor (3). Position relief valve (12) onto the motor. Install four bolts (11) that secure the relief valve to the motor. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 25 N·m (19 lb ft).

  1. Place mounting plate (6) into position on the motor. Install four bolts (10) and the washers that secure the plate to the motor.

  1. Secure gerotor motor (3) in a vise

  1. Install gear (9) on the shaft. Seat the gear with a soft faced hammer.

  1. Install nut (8) on the shaft. Tighten the nut to a torque of 500 N·m (370 lb ft).

  1. Install spring pin (7) through the shaft and nut (6). If the holes in the shaft do not align with the slots in the nut, continue to tighten the nut until the spring pin can be installed.

  1. Attach an appropriate nylon lifting sling and a hoist to the motor assembly. Place gerotor motor (3) and mounting plate (6) into position in the upper housing. The weight of the motor assembly is 22 kg (49 lb).

  1. Install four bolts (5) and the washers that secure the mounting plate to the housing.

  1. Place hose assemblies (4) into position in the upper housing of the work tool. Place the two O-ring seals into position on the hose assemblies that attach to the rotary manifold. Install eight bolts, the washers, and four half flanges that secure the two hoses to the rotary manifold.

  1. Place the O-ring seals into position on the other end of hose assemblies (4). Install eight bolts, the washers, and four half flanges that secure the two hose assemblies to the upper housing.

  1. Place the O-ring seals into position on two hose assemblies (2) that attach to gerotor motor (3). Connect the two hose assemblies to the motor.

  1. Install cover (1) to the upper housing.
