Usage:

D8L ( 53Y ),
D8N ( 9TC ),
631E ( 1AB ),
637E ( 1FB, 1JB ),
657E ( 90Z, 91Z ) Tractors;
769C ( 1X ),
777B ( 4YC ) Trucks;
980C ( 63X ),
988B ( 50W ) Loaders

Description of Change: Improved radiator core assemblies are used in the folded core radiators in the above machines. The improved core assemblies use a different composition of solder and different manufacturing process to join the tubes to the headers. The improved radiator core assemblies will help prevent coolant leaks from the tube to header joint.

Adaptable To: Some of the improved radiator core assemblies used on the above machines have new part numbers and some do not. The new 9Y3317 and 9Y3318 Radiator Core Assemblies are direct replacements for the former 2W5542 and 2W5541 Radiator Core Assemblies. The part numbers of the improved 2W5540 and 7W2173 Radiator Core Assemblies have not changed. Improved radiator core assemblies are date coded 6/87 or later. The date code and part number are stamped on the center stiffener on the core assembly. See the illustration. The chart lists the new and former part numbers of the improved radiator core assembly. The chart also lists the product identification numbers (PIN) when the improved core assemblies are in effect and the range of product identification numbers that the improved core assemblies are adaptable to.
