Usage:
CS-553 ( 7AD ),
CP-553 ( 7BD ),
RayGo Rascal 4100 (80),
RayGo Rascal 4200 (81) Compactors
Description of Change: A new drum drive plate, which is 25.4 mm (1.00") thick and longer mounting bolts are used in the drum mounting assembly on CS-553 and CP-553 Compactors. To accommodate the thicker drive plate and longer mounting bolts, a new gear box mount, which is part of the propel system is used. See Illustrations 1 and 2 for the location of the parts. Formerly, the drive plate was 19.0 mm (.75") thick. In some instances, it was possible for the drive plate to fail through the bolt holes used to attach the plate to the right angle drive box.
Adaptable To: The new parts shown in the chart are effective with CS-553 (7AD132) and CP-553 (7BD37) Compactors. They are adaptable to CS-553 (7AD1-7A131), CP-553 (7BD1-7BD36), RayGo Rascal 4100 (80-101-Up) and RayGo Rascal 4200 (81-101-Up) Compactors.
If a new drive plate is to be installed on an earlier model, it is not necessary to install a new gear box mount unless the former one is damaged. However, a 6.4 m (.25") thick spacer must be fabricated (see Illustration 3) and installed between the former gear box mount and the drum yoke. This installation requires the new mounting bolts listed in the chart. The former 19.0 mm (.75") thick drive plate uses 29140289 Bolts (CAT Part No. 774275) for installation. The new 25.4 mm (1.00") thick drive plate uses 29140321 Bolts for installation. DO NOT MIX THE PARTS.
NOTE: The wrong combination of drive plate and gear box mount will overstress the rubber shock mounts between the drive plate and drum. The new thicker drive plate must be used with either a new gear box mount or a former gear box mount with the addition of the 6.4 mm (.25") thick spacer.
