Challenger 65 Tractors ( 7YC)
Some dealers have conducted power take-off (PTO) dynamometer tests on Challenger 65 Agricultural Tractors to address low power complaints. After testing, it was found that PTO horsepower did not meet the specifications listed in the Challenger 65 sales specification sheet, Form AEHQ2738.
It is very important that rated PTO horsepower be checked at 1000 PTO rpm. The sales specification sheet incorrectly states that 1000 PTO rpm occurs at rated engine speed (2100 engine rpm). 1000 PTO rpm actually occurs at approximately 2055 engine rpm.
This can be confirmed on tractors equipped with the optional Performance Monitor by using the PTO rpm feature to set the governor control and to set the PTO at 1000 rpm. The tractor is rated at 235 PTO horsepower at 1000 PTO rpm. If PTO power is checked at 2100 engine rpm, a lower value will be found (approximately 225 horsepower).
