The ECM detects all of the following conditions:
- The engine has been running more than three minutes. This three minute delay begins once the engine speed is within 50 rpm of the low idle setting.
- Air inlet temperature is greater than 79 °C (174 °F) for more than four seconds.
- 172-03 Intake Manifold Air Temp open/short to +batt is not active.
- 172-04 Intake Manifold Air Temp short to ground is not active.
System Response:
The ECM will log the diagnostic event. The ECM will derate engine power by two percent for each degree celsius above 79 °C (174 °F). The maximum derate is 20 percent. The ECM will restore full power when the air inlet temperature falls to 77 °C (171 °F) for 20 seconds.
