If the machine moved while testing the service brakes, inspect the service brake components for wear or damage. Repair or replace the worn or damaged service brake components as required before returning the machine to service. |
- Test the service brakes on a dry, level surface.
- Check the area around the machine. Make sure that the machine is clear of personnel and clear of obstacles.

- Fasten the seat belt before testing the service brakes.
- Start the engine. Make sure that the autoshift control is in the off position.
Note: If the machine begins to move during the test, reduce the engine speed immediately and engage the parking brake.
- Raise the implement slightly.
- Make sure that the controlled rimpull percentage is at 100%.
- Use the left foot to apply the right hand brake pedal.
- For the 834G, move the transmission control to the third speed forward. For the 836G, move the transmission control to the second speed forward.
- Release the parking brake.
Note: Keep service brakes applied.
- For the 834G, gradually increase the engine speed to high idle. For the 836G, gradually increase the engine speed to 1100 rpm.
Note: Do not run the engine at high idle for more than five seconds.
- The machine should not move.
- Reduce engine speed to low idle.
- Move the transmission control to the neutralposition.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Lower the implement to the ground.
- Stop the engine.
Note: If the machine moved during the test, consult your dealer for a brake inspection. Make any necessary repairs before the machine is returned to operation.
