Description

In this mode the operator or technician can view calibration values for clutch packs, change reverse shuttle selections and change the programmable upshift/downshift constants.

Functions C1, C2, and C3

C1 is the identifier for the low range directional clutch F1.

C2 is the identifier for the high range directional clutch F2.

C3 is the identifier for the reverse range directional clutch REV.

The calibration numbers for the C1, C2 and C3 functions are for viewing only. The possible values are 21 to 99. Mode 10 is not used to program these functions. For the adjustment procedure, see the topic "Transmission Clutch Calibration" in the Operation And Maintenance Manual.

Function C4

C4 is the identifier for the forward to reverse shuttle shift offset. The possible values are 3, 2, 1, 0, -1, -2, -3 and L. The offset value determines the gear difference when shifting from forward to reverse. When the shift control lever is moved from forward to reverse and the offset value is 0, the machine will engage the same reverse gear as was selected in forward travel. With an offset value of 2, the machine will engage the reverse gear that is two gears higher than the forward gear that was engaged. With an offset value of -3, the machine will engage the reverse gear that is three gears lower than the forward gear that was engaged. An offset value of L will cause the machine to always engage R3 (reverse low). There is another method of programming the offset value other than using Mode 10. See the topic "Programming Reverse Gear Selection" in the Operation And Maintenance Manual.

Function C5

C5 is the identifier for the upshift constant that is used with the programmable upshift/downshift feature. The possible values are 0, 1, 2 and 3. The upshift constant determines the number of gears that the machine will automatically upshift when the programmable upshift feature is activated by the operator. There is another method of programming the upshift constant other than using Mode 10. See the topic "Programmable Up Shift" in the Operation And Maintenance Manual.

Function C6

C6 is the identifier for the downshift constant that is used with the programmable upshift/downshift feature. The possible values are 0, 1, 2 and 3. The downshift constant determines the number of gears that the machine will automatically downshift to when the programmable downshift feature is activated by the operator. There is another method of programming the downshift constant other than using Mode 10. See the topic "Programmable Down Shift" in the Operation And Maintenance Manual.

Functions C7 and C8

C7 is the identifier for the upshift constant that is used to fine tune the F9 to F10 transmission upshift. The possible values are from 1 to 19. The value of the upshift constant determines the fill time of the F2 high range clutch.

C8 is the identifier for the downshift constant that is used to fine tune the F8 to F7 transmission downshift. The possible values are from 1 to 19. The value of the downshift constant determines the fill time of the F1 low range clutch.

Always adjust the C7 or C8 constant by three or more digits to insure that the shift quality is noticeably better or worse than the previous number. The machine must be operated after every adjustment to evaluate the shift quality. If the machine shift is better, the digits may be adjusted one at a time to further fine tune the shift. If the shift is worse, change the number by six digits in the opposite direction in order to improve the shift. Make sure that the new number is saved after every adjustment.

Note: This adjustment should only be performed in field conditions with the oil at operating temperature. Also, cold oil will adversely affect the transmission shift.

Procedure To Use Mode 10

  1. Enter the transmission calibration review and programming mode (Mode 10):

    1. Turn key start switch from OFF to ON.

    1. Press and hold "Setup/Select Key" (4) for three seconds.

    1. Press "Digit Set Key" (2) until Readout (1) shows "_ _1 0".

    1. Press and hold "Setup/Select Key" (4) for three seconds in order to enter Mode 10.

  1. After entering Mode 10, information is immediately shown on Readout (19) and Readout (1). Readout (19) shows the function identifier (C1 to C8). Readout (1) shows the current value of the function. To view the different functions (C1 to C8), repeatedly press "Setup/Select Key" (4). This causes the EMC to cycle through the functions. The sequence is the same as that listed in the Mode 10 chart.

  1. Select the function identifier (C1 to C8). Repeatedly press "Setup/Select Key" (4) until the desired function identifier is showing on Readout (19). The present value of the function is showing on Readout (1).

  1. Changing (programming) the value of a function that is selected is done in the following manner. Each digit of the value showing on Readout (1) is changed one at a time. The flashing digit identifies the digit to be changed. Pressing "Digit Set Key" (2) increases the numerical value of the flashing digit. Pressing "Digit Select Key" (3) causes the next digit to flash. This digit can now be set by using "Digit Set Key" (2). See the Mode 10 chart for the possible values for each function.

Note: Functions C1, C2 and C3 are not adjustable, see the preceding topic - "Description".

  1. To save a new (just entered) value that is showing on Readout (1), press and hold "Setup/Select Key" (4) for THREE seconds. This enters the value into memory and advances the display to the next function.

  1. To return the EMC to service mode selection, press "Exit/Mode Key" (6) one time. To return the EMC to normal operation, press "Exit/Mode Key" (6) two times.
