    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the installation procedure, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.

  1. Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

  2. Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

  3. Align gear (9) with the key (not shown) that is on the shaft of gear pump (2). Position gear (9) onto the shaft of gear pump (2).

  4. Use slotted nut (10) and the washer in order to install gear (9) onto gear pump (2).

  5. Install cotter pin (8), as shown.

  6. Use four bolts (6) and the washers in order to install gear pump (2) to the differential carrier assembly.

  7. Install Tool (A) onto gear pump (2) and gear (9), as shown.

  8. Use Tool (A) in order to measure the backlash of gear (9). As required, install shims (7) in order to obtain a backlash of .37 ± .13 mm (0.015 ± 0.005 inch).

  9. Remove Tool (A) from gear pump (2).

  10. Apply 7M-7456 Compound to the threads of four twelve point bolts (4). Use four twelve point bolts (4) and the washers in order to install tube assembly (5) and the O-ring seal to gear pump (2), as shown.

  11. Apply 7M-7456 Compound to the threads of four twelve point bolts (3). Use four twelve point bolts (3) and the washers in order to install tube assembly (1) and the O-ring seal to gear pump (2), as shown.

End By:

  1. Install the differential and bevel gear. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Differential and Bevel Gear - Install".
