Description
In this mode the technician can check the transmission control outputs of the Chassis Control Module (CCM) without using additional testing equipment. The technician selects an output and the display area of the MPM will indicate if the output is functioning. The technician can turn the output ON and OFF. All CCM transmission control outputs are assigned a unique four digit parameter ID number (P_ _ _ ). For a list of all the Mode 7 parameter ID numbers, see the Mode 7 Parameter Identification chart.
When an output is selected, the actual status of the output at the CCM is shown on readout (19). "Hi" means the output is ON. "Lo" means the output is OFF.
Note: The "Hi" and "Lo" indications only mean that the CCM is providing the ON or OFF signals for the output component. The technician must confirm that the output component is actually turning ON and OFF. Mode 7 does not identify a short circuit like Mode 4 does.
Note: If during troubleshooting it is found that an output does turn ON and OFF, then it is likely that the corresponding input circuit is at fault.
Procedure To Use Mode 7
- Enter the CCM transmission control output diagnostic mode (Mode 7):
- Turn key start switch from OFF to ON.
- Press and hold "Setup/Select Key" (4) for three seconds.
- Press "Digit Set Key" (2) until Readout (1) shows "_ _ _ 7".
- Press and hold "Setup/Select Key" (4) for three seconds in order to enter Mode 7.
- Determine the parameter ID number of the output to be checked. See the Mode 7 Parameter Identification chart. Press and release "Digit Set Key" (2) until the desired parameter ID number is showing on Readout (1).
- Press "Start/Stop/Reset Key" (5), to turn the output ON or OFF. The display areas will operate as described in the preceding Description section. (Hi = ON, Lo = OFF).
- To return the EMC to service mode selection, press "Exit/Mode Key" (6) one time. To return the EMC to normal operation, press "Exit/Mode Key" (6) two times.
