Description

In this mode, the technician can sequentially view important information regarding the electronic modules on the machine.

Three items of information are shown for each module. These items of information are:

  • Hardware revision level.

  • Software revision level.

  • Serial number of the machine in which the module was originally installed.

The electronic modules are:

  • Electronic Monitoring Center (EMC).

  • Electronic draft control circuits of the Chassis Control Module (CCM).

  • Electronic transmission control circuits of the Chassis Control Module (CCM).

  • Right Hand Control (RHC) module.

Engine speed readout (24) shows a four character code that represents the electronic module and the item of information. Engine speed readout (24) consists of four characters. The first three characters identify the electronic module that is selected. The last character identifies the information item ("h" for hardware, "S" for software and "b" for serial number) that is selected. See the preceding illustrations and the Mode 9 chart.

The hardware and software revision levels are shown on hourmeter (18).

The machine serial number has six digits. Both hourmeter (18) and readout (1) are used to show the machine serial number. The first three digits of the machine serial number preceded by the letter "d" are shown on hourmeter (18). The last three digits of the machine serial number are shown on readout (1). The first two digits of the machine serial number identify the sales model. The last four digits of the machine serial number actually identify the serial number. For example, number "d451 567" identifies a Challenger 45 with serial number 1567. If a module has been replaced, the value " _ _ _ _ " is shown for the machine serial number on readout (18). See the preceding illustration and the Mode 9 chart.

Procedure To Use Mode 9

  1. Enter the hardware/software revision level mode (Mode 9):

    1. Turn key start switch from OFF to ON.

    1. Press and hold "Setup/Select Key" (4) for three seconds.

    1. Press "Digit Set Key" (2) until Readout (1) shows "_ _ _ 9".

    1. Press and hold "Setup/Select Key" (4) for three seconds in order to enter Mode 9.

  1. After entering Mode 9, information is immediately shown on engine speed readout (24) and hourmeter (18). See the preceding Description section. To view the different items of information, repeatedly press "Setup/Select Key" (4). This causes the EMC to cycle through the items of information. The sequence is the same as that listed in the Mode 9 chart.

  1. To return the EMC to service mode selection, press "Exit/Mode Key" (6) one time. To return the EMC to normal operation, press "Exit/Mode Key" (6) two times.
