Start By:

  1. Remove the steering control. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Control - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

  1. Remove two bolts (1) .

  1. Remove cover (2) and O-ring seal (3) .

  1. Remove ring (4) and O-ring seal (5) .

  1. Remove rotary spool (6) .

  1. Remove two bolts (8). Remove body (9) from body (7) .

  1. Body (9) is separated from body (7). Separate plunger (10) from the two bodies.

  1. Remove three O-ring seals (11) from body (9) .

  1. Remove sleeve assembly (13), slug (14), valve group (15), and spring (16) from body (9) .

  1. If necessary, remove the plug and the seal from sleeve assembly (13) .

    Note: Do not reuse retaining ring (17) .

  1. Remove retaining ring (17) from stem (18). Remove the stem from valve group (15) .

  1. Remove retainer (19) and spring (20) from stem (18) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (22) from plug (12) .

  1. Remove nut (21) from the location on plunger (24) and against plug (22) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (23) from plunger (24) .

  1. Remove three bolts (25) from body (7) .

  1. Remove shaft assembly (28) from body (26) .

  1. Use two screwdrivers to reposition both top and bottom tangs (29) of spring (30) .

  1. Position the screwdrivers within shaft assembly (28). Remove the shaft assembly from body (26) .

  1. Use Tooling (B) to remove retaining ring (31) from shaft assembly (28) .

  1. Remove cam (32) from shaft assembly (28) .

  1. Remove key (33) from shaft assembly (28) .

  1. Remove bearings (34) from both ends of shaft assembly (28). Use Tooling (A) .

  1. Remove seal (35) from body (26) .

  1. Use a press and Tooling (C) to remove seal (35) from body (26) .

  1. Remove plug (36). Remove the O-ring seals from body (26) .

  1. If necessary, remove three plugs (37) and the O-ring seals from body (7) .

  1. If necessary, remove seven plugs (38) and the O-ring seals from body (9) .

  1. If necessary, remove sleeve (39) from body (9) .
