Note: Check the condition of all of the seals and the condition of all of the parts during the assembly process. Replace all worn parts or damaged parts with new parts.

  1. Fasten a suitable lifting device to the engine. Position the engine in the machine. The approximate weight of the engine is 1067 kg (2350 lb).

  1. Install bolts (39) that hold the front mount for the engine in place.

  1. Install cable strap (40) that holds the electrical connection for the horn to the frame.

  1. Install mounting bolts (38) on both sides of the engine.

  1. Connect hoses (35), (36), and (37) to the torque converter.

  1. Put the clip in position and install bolt (34) .

  1. Put the clip in position and install bolt (33) .

  1. Connect hoses (28), (29), (30), and (32) to torque converter (31) .

  1. Connect hoses (22), (23), (24), and (25) to implement pump (26). Use bolts and washers (27) to install the clips.

  1. Install drain plug (21) in the hydraulic tank.

  1. Position bottom guard (20) on the machine with Tool (A) and cribbing. Install bolts (19) in bottom guard (20). The weight of the bottom guard is 91 kg (200 lb).

  1. Connect eight wiring harnesses (18) .

  1. Connect inlet fuel line (16). Connect return fuel line (17) .

  1. Connect negative battery cable (12) and positive battery cable (14) to the starter.

  1. Connect the wires to the positive starter terminal and install cover (13) .

  1. Install the nut, the washer, and bolt (10) on governor control lever (11). Install spring (9) on the governor control.

  1. Put grease block (8) in position and install bolts and washers (7) .

  1. Put floorplate (6) in position and install bolts (5) .

  1. Put engine access panel (4) in position on the left side of the machine. Install six bolts (3).

  1. Put engine access panel (1) in position on the right side of the machine. Install six bolts (2) .

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.

  1. Open the access door. Push the knob for the fuel supply valve all the way inward in order to open the valve and turn on the fuel supply to the engine.

  1. Fill the hydraulic tank to the correct level.

    Note: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7156, "Refill Capacities" for the 517 Track-Type Skidder for the correct amount and type of oil.

End By:

  1. Install the radiator guard assembly.
  2. Install the hood assembly.
  3. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  4. Install the muffler and install the exhaust.
  5. Install the drive shaft. Refer to the 517 Track-Type Skidder manual for Disassembly and Assembly (Power Train)RENR2027, "Drive Shaft" for the correct procedure to install the drive shaft.
