Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact the skin. Be sure that the engine and components are cool enough to touch with your bare hand prior to performing any service work. |

- Remove six bolts (1) from the engine access panel on the left side of the machine. Remove access panel (2) .
- Use Tool (A) to remove oil filter (3) from filter base (4) .

- Remove bolt (8), clip (9), and the spacer that holds inlet tube assembly (10) to outlet tube assembly (6). Remove the bolts that hold the inlet tube assembly to the cylinder block and to the oil filter base. Remove bolt (7) that holds outlet tube assembly (6) to the cylinder block and to the filter base. Remove both tube assemblies.

- Remove bolts (5) that hold the oil filter base to the oil cooler. Remove the oil filter base.
