Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove two bolts (2) from access door (1). Open the door for access to the batteries.

  1. Disconnect battery cables (3) from batteries (4) .

  1. Remove six bolts (6) from engine access panel (5) on the right side of the machine (lower panel). Remove the panel.

  1. Put identification marks on the four wires that are connected to terminal (9) and the two wires that are connected to terminal (7). Disconnect the wires from starter (8) .

  1. Remove cover (10). Put identification marks on the two wires on the terminal under the cover. Disconnect the two wires from the terminal.

  1. Remove three bolts (11). Use two people to remove the starter. The weight of the starter is 27 kg (60 lb).

Installation Procedure

Note: Check the condition of the gasket that was removed with the starter. Install a new gasket, if necessary.

  1. Use two people to place starter (8) in position. The weight of the starter is 27 kg (60 lb). Install three bolts (11) .

  1. Connect two wires to the terminal that is located under cover (10). Install cover (10) .

  1. Connect two wires to terminal (7). Connect four wires to terminal (9) .

  1. Place engine access panel (5) in position and install six bolts (6) .

  1. Connect battery cables (3) to battery (4) .

  1. Close access door (1) and install two bolts (2) .
