Brakes, Indicators and Gauges - Test

Check for inoperative gauges. Check for inoperative switches, or burned indicator lamps, etc.

Start the engine.

Stop the engine. Make any needed repairs before operating the machine.

The indicator lamps can be checked. Use the following procedure:

  1. Turn off the engine.

  1. Engage the parking brake.

  1. Shift the transmission out of the NEUTRAL position. Apply the inching clutch pedal.

  1. Turn the engine start switch key to the START position. The starter should not engage.

  1. Check all lights for operation. All lights should be on except for the turn signals, hazard lights, and the high beam indicator. Check the high beam for operation. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Light Switches".

  1. Check the warning alarm for operation. The alarm should beep continuously.

  1. Return the transmission control to the NEUTRAL position. The alarm should stop.

  1. Turn the engine start switch key to the OFF position.
