SUBJECT: 834G WHEEL TRACTOR and 836G LANDFILL COMPACTOR CALIBRATIONS REQUIRE CATERPILLAR ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN (Cat ET) 2001B-SERVICE PACK 1 SOFTWARE OR LATER
PROBLEM: The "Position Sensor for the Control Lever (Electronic Technician) - Calibrate", located in the Operation and Maintenance Manual, machine adjustment requires ET 2001B-Service Pack 1 software or later.
SOLUTION: Cat ET 2001B-Service Pack 1 software upgrade is now available through Cat ET Web Sites or by contacting the Service Systems Support Center. Refer to FEB 11, 2002 Service Magazine (SEPD0616-00) article "Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) 2001B-Service Pack 1 Software Upgrade is now Available" for additional installation instructions.
Note: The current Operation and Maintenance Manual, 834G Wheel Tractor and 836G Landfill Compactor (SEBU7206-04) does not include the correct procedure, "Position Sensor for the Control Lever (Caterpillar Monitoring System) - Calibrate", for 834G Wheel Tractors (BPC1-Up) and 836G Landfill Compactors (BRL1-Up). This procedure utilizes the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool. The adjustment must be performed using Electronic Technician (ET) until the correct procedure for use with the Caterpillar Monitoring System is available. The current published procedure is applicable to earlier machines: 834G Wheel Tractors (6GZ1-Up) and 836G Landfill Compactors (7MZ1-Up).
