SUBJECT: Oil Contamination
PROBLEM: Some TH103 Telehandlers may have hydraulic malfunction due to contamination on assembly. Loss of the steering load signal resulting from the accumulation of debris in certain ports of the Bank Valve can result in hard steering.
SOLUTION:
Check the possible location of the debris in the hydraulic system:-
- First check the Priority Valve (1) (refer to illustration 1). Remove the Priority Valve and inspect the valve for contamination. Check the bore to ensure that the movement is smooth and unrestricted.
- Remove the Load Sense Relief Valve (2) (refer to illustration 1). Inspect the Valve for debris. Any debris found in this location will allow the load signal to bleed down.
- Remove the hose at the steering load sense port (3) (refer to illustration 1). The other end of the hose runs to the HMU Valve. Remove the hose and inspect the hose for debris. Flush the hose. Look for debris at steering load sense port.
- Remove the Load Sense Check Valve (4) (refer to illustration 1). Inspect the orifice in the valve. Debris in this location will result in the loss of load signal.
- Remove the hose from the load sense port (5) on the bank valve (refer to illustration 1). The other end of the hose runs to the Pump Control. Remove the hose and inspect the hose for debris. Flush the hose. Inspect the load sense port (5) on the bank valve for debris.
