Problem:

Reports have been received of the chute deflector drifting down during operation of the SR17, SR18, and SR21 Snowblowers.

Solution:

Perform the following procedure to prevent the chute deflector from drifting during operation:

1. Check to ensure that hoses are connected correctly. See Figure 1.
2. Run the snowblower for 2-3 minutes in order to warm the hydraulic fluid.
3. If drifting persists with the hoses connected correctly, continue with this procedure.
4. Locate the manifold on the rear of the snowblower. See Figure 2.
5. Locate relief valve R4 on the upper left of the manifold. See Figure 3.
6. Loosen the jam nut with a 11/16" wrench.
7. Turn the setscrew 1/2 turn clockwise with a 1/4" hex key wrench.
8. Check to see if the chute deflector drifts down.
9. If drifting persists, continue to turn the setscrew in 1/2 turn intervals (clockwise) until the drifting ceases.
10. Retighten the jam nut.
