141-6579 Multi-Functional Switch Caterpillar

Problem:

The 141-6579 Multi-Functional Switch is currently under review due to the continued failure of the dimmer switch. In the interim a floor mounted 2H-1855 Dimmer Switch may be installed.

Solution:

Install a floor mounted 2H-1855 Dimmer Switch.

1. Remove the outside cover to expose the steering column.

2. Disconnect the 12 pin plug from the steering column multi-functional switch.

3. Remove the wedge from the 12 pin plug.

4. Remove cable A608 grey complete with socket from pin 5 of the plug.

5. Remove cable 619 green complete with socket from pin 4 of the plug.

6. Install the wedge back into the plug.

7. Install two 8T-8737 Blanking Plugs to position 4 and 5 of the 12 pin plug.

8. Reconnect the 12 pin plug to the steering column multi-functional switch.

9. Install cable A608 grey to pin 1 of the 155-2270 2 Pin Plug.

10. Install cable 619 green to pin 2 of the 155-2270 2 Pin Plug.

11. Modify the floor plate as shown in Illustration 3.

12. Install the 2H-1855 Dip Switch.

13. Connect new 7DE4678 Harness Assembly to the two pin plug.

14. Connect A608 grey eyelet to terminal batt at the 2H-1855 Dip Switch.

15. Connect 619 green eyelet to the center terminal of the 2H-1855 Dip Switch.

16. Re-Install the access cover over the steering column.
