Failure Of The Brake Release Pump (Electric)
Usage:
LOAD HAUL DUMPR2900-101 TO 170, R2900 (5TW1-330) LOAD HAUL DUMP
Problem:
The brake release pump (electric) may fail to operate due to the drive shaft length being out of tolerance.
Solution:
8W-6425 Pump

- 1. Check the Date Code on the Pump Information Plate. The format of the Date Code is two letters for each month / day / year. Each letter indicates a number (N=0, U=1, M=2, E=3, R=4, A=5, L=6, K=7, O=8, D=9). For example the Date Code NE/ML/DD = 03/26/99. Only pumps manufactured before November 1, 1999 are suspect.
- 2. Remove the 8W-6425 Pump from the electric motor. Measure the distance from the rear cover of the pump to the end of the drive shaft as shown in Illustration 1. Replace the pump if the drive shaft does not conform to the measurement as shown.
