Check Position And Condition Of Rear Brake Pipe Caterpillar

Check Position And Condition Of Rear Brake Pipe

Usage:

TELESCOPIC MATERIAL HANDLERSRT50 (4XG);
RT50 SA (8DJ);
RTC60 (5PF);
RT60 (5DG) TELESCOPIC MATERIAL HANDLERS

Problem:

The 897838 Rear Brake Pipe (RT50, RT50 SA, RTC60) and 838027 Rear Brake Pipe (RT60) may contact the transfer gearbox mounting bracket at the point shown in the illustration. If there is contact between the bracket and the brake pipe, movement of the bracket can cause a hole to be worn in the brake pipe causing the loss of brake oil.

Solution:

Inspect the brake pipe and replace if contact with the transfer gearbox mounting bracket is evident. Ensure adequate clearance between the replacement pipe and the mounting bracket.

If the brake pipe is unmarked but close to the mounting bracket, loosen the pipe nuts on the tee fitting located in front of the mounting bracket and move the pipe to increase the clearance. Ensure the pipe nuts are fully tightened after repositioning the brake pipe.

Bleed the brakes as detailed in the Service Manual before returning the machine to service.
