Movement Between The Boom And Chassis Boom Support May Be Excessive

Usage:

TELESCOPIC MATERIAL HANDLERSRT50 (4XG1-UP),
RT50 SA (8DJ1-UP),
RTC60 (5PF1-UP),
RT60 (5DG1-UP) TELESCOPIC MATERIAL HANDLERS

Problem:

There have been reports of excessive movement between the No. 1 boom section and the boom support area on the chassis. The tolerance stack-up may create a total gap of 4 to 6 mm between the boom section and support.

Solution:

The 4 to 6 mm gap can be reduced to 1 mm by adding a sufficient quantity of 3K8535 Washers (shims) which can be obtained from the Caterpillar Parts Department.

The shims are added by removing the 8115933 End Covers and pressing the shaft over far enough to allow installation of the necessary 3K8535 Washers.

NOTE: Be sure to provide support for the boom section while installing the shims.
