R-134a Refrigerant Leaks May Be Caused By Incorrect Seals Caterpillar

Problem:

If a loss of R-134a refrigerant from the air conditioning system is experienced, it is possible that incorrect seals were installed.

The 9X-7381 (Illustration 1, Item 25) and 9X-7383 (Illustration 1, Item 34) Seals are part of the air conditioner lines group. The 9X-7383 Seal is also used in the air conditioner group. See Item 16 in Illustration 2. However, the actual seals installed at the factory may not have been these seals. The incorrect seals are black in color. The correct 9X-7381 and 9X7383 Seal are orange.

Solution:

If a leak is located in one of the seal locations, check to make sure the seals are orange in color. Replace any existing seals that are black.
