Governor Control Cable Improved {1265}

Usage:

CB-214C (9XK),
CB-224C (3AL) Vibratory Compactors

Description of Change: The governor control cable has changed from a linear pull-type cable to a lever operated cable. The new cable will provide improved service life.

Adaptable To: There have been three generations of accelerator control groups. See Chart 1 for a listing of groups and effective serial numbers.

The 5E-5518 and 110-5820 Cable Groups are pull-type accelerator cables. The 120-8871 and 135-0383 Cable Groups are lever-operated cables.

The new 135-0383 Accelerator Control Group is a direct replacement for the former 120-8871 Accelerator Control Group, which is cancelled.

The new 135-0383 Accelerator Control Group can be installed on previous machines equipped with a 5E-5516 or 110-5820 Pull-type Control Group by performing the following procedure.

Procedure To Install 135-0383 Accelerator Control Group In Place Of Former Pull-Type Control Groups

1. Remove the existing 5E-7901 or 110-5820 Accelerator Control Group.

6. Install 135-0383 Control Group (1) using two 7X-2537 Bolts (3), two 8T-4224 Washers (4) and two 6V-9189 Nuts (5).

7. Install the end of the cable in the second hole from the inside of governor lever (M).

8. Secure the cable in bracket (Q).

9. Loosen nut (P).

10. Rotate governor control shaft (N) counterclockwise until it stops, and hold it in place.

NOTE: Use a 10 mm wrench to rotate governor control shaft (N).

11. Rotate governor control lever (M) counterclockwise to pull the governor control cable an additional 5 mm (.2 in), and tighten nut (P) at this point.

12. Install the instrument panel.

13. Install 121-0890 Film Group, in the location shown in Illustration 3.

14. Start the engine and verify that the engine speed is 2500 ± 20 rpm when the control lever is in the Hi Idle position.
