Improved Spring Used In Belt Tightener Groups{1358}

Usage:

D9N (1JD, 6XJ) Tractors, 589 Pipelayers

Description of Change: An improved spring is used in the belt tightener groups on the engines in the above machines. The improved spring used larger diameter wire for the "S" hook on each end of the spring. The improved spring can be identified by an orange stripe on the spring.

Location of components in typical belt tightener group. 6I-0761 Spring (1). 7X-0591 Washer (2). 7C-9652 Arm Assembly (3).

Adaptable To: The improved 6I-0761 Spring (1) is a direct replacement for the earlier spring with the same number in the 4P-1768 and 7W-2845 Belt Tightener Groups on the engines in the above machines. The improved 6I-0761 Spring has an orange stripe. The improved spring is effective with D9N Tractors (1JD3256, 6XJ1), and 589 Pipelayers (31Z470).

The improved 6I-0761 Spring can also be used to replace a 8N-5827 Absorber Assembly in earlier belt tightener groups. If an improved 6I-0761 Spring is used to replace a 8N-5827 Absorber Assembly, two 7X-0591 Washers (2) must be used as shown in the illustration.

The improved 6I-0761 Spring can also be used on D9N Tractors 1JD1 - 622, if the 7C-2299 Arm Assembly is replaced with a 7C-9652 Arm Assembly (3).
