Procedure To Bleed And Charge The Rear Suspension{7213}

Usage:

D300D (5MG221-Up) Articulated Trucks

The hydraulic oil lines group for the rear suspension has been changed in production. Charging valves have been moved to new positions. Because of the changes, a new procedure is required for bleeding and charging the rear suspension. Use the method that follows to bleed and charge the rear suspension on D300D (5MG221-Up) Articulated Trucks.

1. Block the front wheels (in front and behind). Remove the suspension circuit fuse from the fuse panel.

2. Connect the charging hose (stored in the tool box) between the front shut-off valve (1) and the test port on the suspension control valve. Check that the transmission is in neutral. Start the engine and disengage the parking brake.

3. Open both shut off valves (1 and 2). Operate the lever on the suspension control valve to allow the rear suspension to fully rise.

4. Install clear plastic tubing over the rear cylinder bleed valve fitting (3) on the left side of the machine. Secure the free end in a suitable waste oil container. The container should have a minimum capacity of 50 L (15 gal U.S.).

5. Open the bleed valve fitting on the left side and allow the suspension to fully lower. Close the bleed valve fittings.

6. Operate the suspension lever to fully raise the rear suspension.

7. Open the bleed valve (3) on the left side and allow the suspension to fully lower. Check that the oil is free of air. Pay particular attention as the system approaches minimum height (cylinders fully retracted). Close the bleed valve.

8. Repeat Steps (6) and (7) until oil flows free of air. Do not allow the waste oil to overflow.

Illustration 2. Rear Suspension Setting Dimension. Dimension (A) plus Dimension (B) equals 233-238 mm (9.2-9.4 in).

9. Operate the suspension valve lever intermittently until the total chromed rod visible from both cylinders (A and B) on the left side is 233-238 mm (9.2-9.4 in). See Illustration 2. Close the front and rear shut off valves.

10. Repeat the procedure for the right side of the machine.

11. After the charging the suspension, engage the parking brake and then stop the engine. Install the suspension fuse in the fuse panel and remove the wheel blocks.

12. Make sure the suspension control in the "Neutral" position. Then, remove the charging hose and place it in the tool box.

13. Check the hydraulic oil level. Add oil as needed.
