New Shroud Assembly Now Available for Power Take Off {1165}

Reference: Service Manual Module; Disassembly and Assembly; SENR4973 for Challenger 65B and 75 Tractors, and SENR5263 for Challenger 65C and 75C Tractors.

Description of Change: A new shroud assembly is now available for the power take off gear. The new shroud assembly, during periods of prolonged or continuous usage prevents excessive oil churning and heat buildup.

Adaptable To: The new 9U2699 Shroud Assembly and related parts are adaptable to the machines listed above. See chart.

Disassembly:

1. Refer to service manual module that corresponds to your machine to drain oil and remove carrier from the power take off.

Machining:


Illustration 1 (A) 5.2 mm (.20 in) diameter, 25.0 mm (.98 in) deep. (B) 1/4-20-2B thread, 13 mm (.5 in) deep. (C) Centerline. (D) 65.10 mm (2.563 in). (E) 65.00 mm (2.559 in).


Illustration 2 (F) 18.0 ± 1.0 mm (.71 ± .04 in) diameter spot face, 4.4 ± 0.5 mm (.17 ± .02 in) deep.

2. Drill, spot face and tap two holes in carrier (1) to dimensions (A), (B), (D), (E) and (F) shown in Illustrations 1 and 2.

Assembly:

3. Assemble shroud assembly (3) to carrier (1) around gear (2) with two bolts (4), four washers (5) and two spacers (6).

NOTE: Use washers (5) as required to ensure proper clearance between shroud assembly (3) and gear (2).
