--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

The 6G-2943 Circle Assembly may need to be reinforced for use in severe applications. Use the following method to fabricate and install the required gussets.

1. Fabricate the right (1) and left (2) gussets from mild steel using the dimensions given in Illustrations 1, 2 and 3 and the chart.

Illustration 1. Flat stock dimensions for the fabricated gussets.

Illustration 2. Dimensions for the right gusset (1).

Illustration 3. Dimensions for the left gusset (2).

2. Orient or remove the moldboard so that access to the gussets on the inside surface of the blade beams is possible.

3. Remove the two 7B-5037 Locks (manual tip lock) from the inside surface of the blade beam. Fill the hole in the beam with a fabricated plug with beveled edges. Weld the plug in the beam and grind any remaining notches or weld smooth.

4. Fit the right fabricated gusset to the right gusset and blade beam. The fabricated gusset should be a close fit with the existing gusset and blade beam. The leading edge of the fabricated reinforcement gusset should come in contact with the flat surface on the underneath side of the circle, but it should not extend into the innermost diameter of the circle. The trailing edge should not be closer than 25.0 mm (.98 in) to the edge of the blade beam. Fit the left fabricated gusset in the same manner.

5. Grind a 12.0 mm (.47 in) chamfer on the edge of the existing gusset that will mate with the fabricated gussets.

6. Tightly fit-up each fabricated gusset to the existing gusset and blade beam before tack welding them in place. There should be no gaps between the mating surfaces of the fabricated gusset and blade beam.

7. Tilt the moldboard back to make sure there is no interference between the fabricated gusset and side shift cylinder guards. Make adjustments as necessary or shorten the fabricated gusset as required to prevent interference. Do not remove more than 30.0 mm (1.18 in) from the length of the fabricated gusset.

8. Weld the fabricated gussets to the blade beam using a continuous 12.0 mm (.47 in) fillet weld with 1.5 mm (.06 in) minimum penetration.

9. Use a 12.0 mm (.47 in) groove weld with 1.5 mm (.06 in) minimum penetration between the chamfer on the existing gussets and fabricated gussets.
