Improved Mounting Method For Hydraulic Quick Hitch Pins{5133}

Usage:

RT50, RT50SA, RTC60, RT60 Telescopic Material Handlers

The quick hitch pins on Telescopic Material Handlers are bolted directly to the pistons of the quick hitch cylinders. Misalignment between the attachment coupler and attachment, when the pins are being inserted and movement of the attachment when the machine is operated, can loosen the hitch pin bolts or bend the hitch pins.

The improved mounting procedure secures the quick hitch pins to the quick hitch cylinder pistons with longer bolts which bottom in the piston before the bolt head contacts the pin. The resulting end float allows the pin some side movement which gives a self aligning action. The following parts list and procedure provides the information for the new mounting procedure.

Procedure:

1. Remove the quick hitch pin cylinders from the attachment coupler.

2. Remove the pins from the cylinder pistons and discard the mounting bolts.

3. Inspect the pin bores in the attachment coupler in area (A) shown in Illustration 1. Grind out smooth, if necessary.

4. Install the pins with 8T5005 Bolts (1) and sufficient 8T4121 Washers (2) to provide a clearance of 2 mm (.08 in) as shown in Illustration 1.

5. When the correct clearance is established, install the 8T5005 Bolts (1) with 9S3263 Thread Lock Compound and tighten to 55 N·m (40 lb ft).

6. Install the cylinders on the attachment coupler.
