Service Magazine; February 14, 1994; Page 3: "Multipurpose Tractor Oil (MTO) Is Usable In All Challenger Implement Hydraulic And Combined Implement And Steering Hydraulic Systems" for Challenger 65, Challenger 70, Challenger 75, Challenger 85 Tractors.

Add the following to this article.

Multipurpose Tractor Oil (MTO) is usable as make up or replacement oil in all Challenger implement hydraulic systems, steering hydraulic systems, and in combined steering and hydraulic system on C-Series Tractors.

NOTE: There is an erroneous statement on page 75 of the Operation and Maintenance Manual SEBU6575-03. Multipurpose Tractor Oil (MT)) is not suitable as a substitute for Transmission Drive Trail Oil (TDTO) in the Differential/Final Drive Lube Compartment.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

The multipurpose tractor oil announced in IRM PELE0306 is usable as make up or replacement oil in Challenger Tractor hydraulic systems. It is available in 5 gallon containers as part number 105-3335.

Some users have other brands of tractors that share implements with Challenger Tractors. In some cases those tractors have a common sump between their implement hydraulics and transmissions. Those tractors specify one of the specifications met by MTO. The oil used for factory fill of Challenger Tractors does not always meet those drive train specs. Changing to MTO in such mixed fleets avoids any consequences of diluting another tractor's drive train with a non-conforming oil.
