Usage:
Start By:
a. remove axles (rear)
1. Fasten tooling (A) and a hoist to carrier assembly (1), and remove the nuts and washers that hold the carrier assembly to the wheel assembly.
2. Install two 1/2 " - 13 NC forcing screws (2) in the carrier assembly. Tighten the forcing screws evenly, and remove carrier assembly (1) from the wheel assembly. The weight of the carrier assembly is 118 kg (200 lb).
3. Remove the O-ring seal from the carrier assembly.
NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the final drive.
4. Put the O-ring seal in position on the carrier assembly. Put 5P0960 Multipurpose Grease on the O-ring seal.
5. Fasten tooling (A) to carrier assembly (1).
6. Put the carrier assembly in position on the wheel assembly, and install the washers and nuts that hold the carrier assembly in position. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 440 ± 20 N·m (320 ± 15 lb ft).

Disassemble Final Drives
Start By:
a. remove final drives
1. Remove pin (1) from final drive carrier assembly (2). Remove the snap ring from the pin.
2. Remove gear (7) and two thrust washers (3) and (8) from the carrier assembly.
3. Remove two bearings (4) and (6) and spacer (5) from the gear.
Assemble Final Drives
1. Install bearings (2) and (4) and spacer (3) in gear (1) as shown.

Make sure that the notched part of the pin is toward the outside of the carrier so the cover for the final drive will be correctly on its seat. |
2. Install snap ring (5) on pin (6). Install thrust washers (8) on the gear as shown. Install pin (6) through carrier assembly (7) and final drive gear (1).
