Usage:
Start By:
a. install body retaining pins
1. Disconnect wire harness connector (1) from lockup clutch valve (2). Remove the bolt that holds the wire harness and clip (4) to the lockup clutch valve, and move the wire harness away from the lockup clutch valve.
2. Disconnect hose assembly (3) from the lockup clutch valve.
3. Remove three bolts (5) and lockup clutch valve (2) from the torque converter.
4. Remove the O-ring seal from the lockup clutch valve.
NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the lockup clutch valve.
5. Put the O-ring seals in position in the lockup clutch valve. Put lockup clutch valve (2) in position on the torque converter, and install three bolts (5).
6. Connect hose assembly (3) to the lockup clutch valve.
7. Connect wire harness connector (1) to lockup clutch valve (2).
8. Put the wire harness and clip (4) in position on the lockup clutch valve, and install the bolt that holds it in place.

Disassemble Lockup Clutch Valve

Section A-A
1. Remove cover (1) from body (18). Remove the O-ring seal from the cover.
2. Remove body (2) from body (18).
3. Disassemble body (2) as follows:
a. Remove spring (7), orifice (6) and the O-ring seal from the body.
b. Remove spring (19), shims (20), piston (21) and piston (22) from the body.
c. Remove plugs (3) and (5) and remove decay orifice (plug) (4) from the body.
4. Remove plug (15) and spring (13) from the body.
5. Remove spool (9) and stop (8) from the body. Remove slug (14) from the spool.
6. Remove the retaining ring, retainer (12), spring (11) and ball (10) from the spool.
7. Remove plug (17) and valve (16) from body (18).
Typical Example. Section B-B
8. Remove cover (23) and spring (25) from the body. Remove the O-ring seal and shims (24) from the cover.
9. Remove plug (28) and spool (26) from the body. Remove slug (27) from the spool.
10. Remove the retaining ring, retainer (31), spring (30) and ball (29) from spool (26).
Typical Example. Section C-C
11. Remove plug (32) and connector (37) from the body.
12. Remove spring (33), spool (34) and washer (35) from the body. Remove O-ring seal (36) from the spool.

Assemble Lockup Clutch Valve

1. Install the O-ring seals on plugs (1) and (6). Install O-ring seal (5) on spool (4).
2. Put spool (4), washer (3) and spring (2) in position in the body as shown, and install plugs (1) and (6).
Typical Example. Section B-B
3. Put ball (14), spring (15) and retainer (16) in position in spool (11) as shown. Install the retaining ring that holds them.
4. Put slug (12) in position in spool (11), and put them in the body as shown. Install the O-ring seal and plug (13).
5. Put two spring (10) in position in the body and spool.
6. Put shims (8) and O-ring seal (9) in position in cover (7). Put the cover in position on the body, and install the bolts that hold it.

7. Put valve (32) in position in the body as shown. Install the O-ring seal and plug (33).
8. Install stop (34) in the body. Make sure it is against the bottom of the counterbore.
9. Put ball (27), spring (28) and retainer (29) in position in spool (26). Install the retaining ring that holds them.
10. Put spool (26), slug (30) and spring (31) in position in the body as shown. Install the O-ring seal and plug to hold them.
11. Install plugs (19) and (21). Install decay orifice (plug) (20).
12. Put O-ring seal (22), orifice (23) and spring (24) in position in body (18).
13. Put pistons (37) and (38) in position in body (18). Put shims (36) and spring (35) in position in piston (37).
14. Put body (18) in position on the body, and install the bolts that hold it.
15. Put O-ring seal (25) in position in cover (17). Put cover (17) in position on the body, and install the bolts that hold them.
