Problems With Oil Or Fuel Filters

Usage:

When there is a defect or a problem with either the oil or the fuel filter, the correct procedure is to send a report with an explanation of the problem to Caterpillar. Since this information will be used to correct the problem, your report must be complete.

For the report to be complete, it must have:

1. Description of the problem or defect
2. Part number of the filter or filters in the problem
3. Date code
4. Supplier code

The location of the last three items on some filters is shown in the illustration.

NOTE: It is possible that some filters will not have the date code or supplier code in the locations shown. For example, the 4H8792 Fuel Filter Element Assembly has the date code 180°C from the Caterpillar corporate symbol.

If the filter does not show the date or Supplier code, say so in your report.
