New Inserts To Repair Cylinder Liner Seats On D353 Engine Blocks

A new 5P8607 Insert is available to use for the repair of cracks in the cylinder liner seats on the above engines. Some D353 Engine blocks have cracks too large for repair with the standard 5P936 Insert. The new insert is larger in diameter than the standard insert and has a design that will put any stress over the main wall of the cylinder block. This helps prevent any more cracks in this area.
Three new gauges and a cutter assembly are needed for the installation of the inserts. Special Instructions, Form SMHS7221 gives these tools and installation instructions.
The new insert has a step on the outer diameter that puts the stress area into the main wall of the block.
