Usage:
3406 Industrial and Truck Engines
Description of Change: New tube assemblies for the turbocharger oil lines and new base assemblies for the oil filters are used on the above models. On the 3406 Industrial Engines with water cooled exhaust manifolds, only the base assembly is changed. The new parts have a different type of connection for the tube assemblies and the base assemblies. The end of the former tube assembly was flared (pushed out at an angle) with a nut to go over the flared end to seal the tube assembly. On some of the engines, this connection leaked oil. The hole in the former base assembly for the turbocharger had tapered pipe threads. If the connector was tightened too much when it was installed in the former base assembly, the base assembly can crack.
The new tube assembly uses a compression-type sleeve to seal the tube. Also, the hole in the new base assembly has straight threads to prevent cracks. An O-ring is used in the hole with the connector.
Adaptable To: The new parts are adaptable to earlier engines when the necessary parts are used together.
