Usage:
Start By:
a. Install the steering frame lock pin. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock Pin - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
b. Release the pressure from the hydraulic system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" for the machine that is being serviced.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
NOTE: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help prevent fluid loss and this will help to prevent contaminants from entering the system.
1. Disconnect electrical connectors (1), (2), (3) and (4) from parking brake control valve (5).
2. Disconnect hose assemblies (6), (7) and (8) from parking brake control valve (5).
3. Disconnect hose assemblies (9), (10) and (11) from parking brake control valve (5).
4. Remove the two bolts and the washers that hold parking brake control valve (5) to the rear frame. Remove the parking brake control valve.
Installation Procedure
1. Put parking brake control valve (5) in position on the rear frame, as shown. Install the two bolts and the washers that hold parking brake control valve (5) to the rear frame.
2. Connect hose assemblies (9), (10) and (11) to parking brake control valve (5).
3. Connect hose assemblies (6), (7) and (8) to parking brake control valve (5).
4. Connect electrical connectors (1), (2), (3) and (4) to parking brake control valve (5).
5. Purge the air from parking brake. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, Braking System, "Brake System Air - Purge" for the machine that is being serviced.
