  4. Lightly lubricate both plug assemblies (1) with oil.

  5. Install one plug assembly (1) into upper ATAAC tube (6).

Note: Always use the seal assembly during testing to secure the plug assembly in the ATAAC tube.

  6. Install seal assembly (2) at the end of the ATAAC tube.

    Tighten seal assembly bolts (11) ... 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft)

  7. Tighten plug assembly nut (9) to expand rubber.

  8. Install one plug assembly (1) into lower ATAAC tube (7).

Note: Always use the seal assembly during testing to secure the plug assembly in the ATAAC tube.

  9. Install seal assembly (2) at the end of the ATAAC tube.

    Tighten seal assembly bolts (11) ... 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft)

  10. Tighten plug assembly nut (9) to expand rubber.

  11. Remove one pipe plug (10) from the end of one plug assembly .

  12. Install pressure gauge into the end of the plug assembly.

  13. Remove pipe plug (12) from the upper ATAAC tube.

  14. Install 1/8-27 NPT air test fitting.

  15. Connect air test fitting to regulated air supply.

Test Procedure

  1. Pressurize the ATAAC to 207 kPa (30 psi).

Note: Make sure the pressure gauge on the end of the plug assembly reads the same pressure as the regulated supply pressure.

  2. Shut off the air supply.

  3. Measure the pressure decay over 15 seconds.

Refer to Table 1 with results.

Note: If decay is greater than 28 kPa (4 psi) in 15 seconds, perform Steps 1 through 9 prior to replacing the ATAAC. If decay is less than 28 kPa (4 psi) in 15 seconds, perform Step 10.

  5. Pressurize the ATAAC to 207 kPa (30 psi).

  6. Shut off the air supply.

  7. Check ATAAC seams (18) for leakage with soapy water.

  8. Check V-band clamps (15) and bellow clamps (17) for leakage with soapy water through access windows (14).

  9. Check plug assemblies (1) for leakage with soapy water.

  10. Repeat the test for the ATAAC on the other side of the machine.
