This article describes the JULY 1996 (JUL96) software release for these engines. The software can be identified by the release date "JUL96" using a Caterpillar electronic service tool. A list of the JUL96 FLASH files can be obtained using the Caterpillar FIND system (search document types: FLASH; keywords: 3176B < OR > C-10 < OR > C-12). The JUL96 software is factory installed effective with 3176B (9CK32590), C-10 (2PN2578), and C-12 (1YN3711). In addition, the JUL96 software is factory installed on C-10 Truck Engines in Ford trucks effective with C-10 (2PN2453). The JUL96 software will be superseded by the AUG96 software. When updating an earlier engine with the JUL96 software, be sure to explain the new features and changes to the customer.

1. New Ratings For Foden Trucks

Three new C-10 Euro II certified ratings have been released effective with the JUL96 software. These 1900 RPM ratings are offered at 325 HP, 350 HP, and 365 HP. These ratings are designated for use in Europe.

2. Improved Noise Strategy

The JUL96 software incorporates a strategy for reduced sound levels.
