Description of Change: Improved water pump groups are available for the above truck engines.

Improvements to the key components of the water pump groups are:

* A unitized seal assembly (the 139-0088 Installation Tool is required).

* A dust lip has been added to the oil seal to keep debris away from the primary seal (the 138-9299 Installation Tool is required).

* A stronger, corrosion resistant, stainless steel shaft has been added.

* The cast iron impeller has been changed to improve coolant flow around the unitized seal.

* The improved housing has a cast flush channel to improve coolant flow around the seal. The weep hole is repositioned to face the block.

* The improved bearing retainer has increased hardness and improved flatness for improved bearing retention.

Adaptable To: The improved 135-4925 Water Pump Group is effective with the above 3406E Truck Engines. The improved 135-4926 Water Pump Group is effective with the above 3406/3406B/3406C Truck Engines. The improved, Remanufactured 0R-8218 Water Pump Group is effective with the above 3406E Truck Engines.The improved, remanufactured 0R-8217 Water Pump Group is effective with the above 3406/3406B/3406C Truck Engines.

Current production effectivity is 3ZJ61787-Up, 5KJ8227-Up, 5EK85240-Up and 8PN1027-Up.

The improved water pump groups are direct replacements for the former water pump groups.
