Improved Fuel Pump Plunger Helps Prevent Plunger And Sleeve Scuffing In Service 8.5 mm Fuel Injection Pump Assembly For Sleeve Metering Fuel System (SMFS) Governor And Fuel Injection Pump Groups{1251,1286}

Usage:

3208 (02Z) Truck Engines

Description of Change: The fuel pump plunger used in the parts service 8.5 mm fuel injection pump assembly for SMFS governor and fuel injection pump groups on these enginess has been improved. The improved fuel pump plunger includes balance grooves. See the illustration. The balance grooves help prevent plunger and sleeve scuffing associated with poor quality fuels. Plunger scuffing can cause governor instability due to the change in fuel delivery from one cylinder to another, or from increased sleeve to plunger friction.

Adaptable To: The improved fuel pump plunger, with balance grooves, is used in the parts service 8.5mm 1W-3010 Fuel Injection Pump Assembly.

Improved (A) and former (B) fuel pump plungers. Balance Groove (1).
