An Improved O-Ring Seal And Proper Use Of Adapter Locks Reduces Oil Leaks{1252}

Usage:

3208 (40S, 32Y, 02Z, 51Z) Truck Engines

Reference: SEBU6367-03; Page 82; "3208 Industrial And Generator Set Engines, Operation And Maintenance Manual".

Description of Change: The fuel injection line adapter assembly in the above truck engines has an improved O-ring seal. The improved Highly Saturated Nitrile (HSN) rubber O-ring seal is orange colored and has a low friction Teflon© coating.

The improved fuel injection line adapter assembly O-ring seal provides improved wear resistance to reduce engine oil leaks at the joint. The improved O-ring seal prevents wear from vibration and heat set that can lead to oil leaks at the bulkhead adapter port in the cylinder head.

Adaptable To: The 9L-7675 Fuel Injection Line Adapter Assembly is assembled with the improved 132-2072 O-Ring Seal. The improved 132-2072 O-Ring Seal is adaptable to the above, back to first production.

Another condition that could cause oil leaks is a vibrating 9L-9372 Adapter Lock. A vibrating 9L-9372 Adapter Lock allows the 9L-7675 Fuel Injection Line Adapter Assembly to vibrate in the cylinder head bulkhead adapter port, and can cause leaks as well as adapter and port wear. The bent tab on the 9L-9372 Adapter Lock must not be flattened against the bulkhead adapter. The bend tab is required to secure the lock, tight against the 9L-7675 Fuel Injection Line Adapter Assembly.

NOTE: The 9L-9372 Adapter Locks should be replaced every time they are removed from the engine. Worn 9L-7675 Line Adapter Assemblies and adapter O-ring seals should also be replaced. Any loose 9L-9372 Adapter Locks should be removed and replaced.
