Water Pump (Engine) - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact the skin.

Be sure that the engine and components are cool enough to touch with your bare hand prior to performing any service work.

Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin.

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.

Steam can cause personal injury.

Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Remove the cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure.

Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.


  1. Drain the coolant into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Disconnect harness assembly (2) and remove elbow (1).

  3. Disconnect hose (3) and remove elbow (4).

  4. Disconnect hose assembly (5).

  5. Attach a suitable lifting device to water pump (6). The weight of water pump (6) is approximately 39 kg (85 lb).

  6. Remove bolts (7) and remove water pump (6).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install water pump (6) in the reverse order of removal.
