Engine Oil Filter and Oil Filter Base - Remove and Install

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact the skin.

Be sure that the engine and components are cool enough to touch with your bare hand prior to performing any service work.


  1. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".

  2. Remove cover (1) in order to remove oil filter element (2). Repeat this step for the remaining oil filter and base.

  3. Disconnect harness assembly (3). Disconnect hose assembly (4). Remove clip (5) and position the tube assembly out of the way.

  4. Disconnect tube assemblies (6). Remove clamps (7).

  5. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto oil filter and base (8). The weight of oil filter and base (8) is approximately 73 kg (160 lb).

  6. Remove bolts (9). Remove oil filter and base (8).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil filter and base (8) in the reverse order of removal.
