Removal Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the oil from the engine into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

  2. Remove bolts (1) that hold adapter (2) of the engine oil pump to the engine oil pan.

  3. Remove bolts (4) that hold hose assembly (3) in the oil pan.

  4. Remove bolts (5) that hold oil pan (6) to the engine.

  5. Lift the engine off the engine oil pan. The weight of the engine is approximately 14666 kg (32335 lb).

  6. The weight of the engine assembly is approximately 15059 kg (33200 lb).

  7. The weight of the engine oil pan is approximately 393 kg (865 lb).
