Installation Procedure

Note: Do not use a torch to heat the flywheel ring gear.

1. Raise the temperature of the flywheel ring gear. Position the flywheel ring gear on the flywheel with the part number toward the crankshaft. Use a soft hammer in order to seat the flywheel ring gear against the shoulder of the flywheel. Allow the flywheel ring gear to cool.

2. Position flywheel (5) on Tooling (A). Install flywheel (5) on the dowel in the crankshaft. Install hub (3), flex plate (4), and spacer plate (2).

3. Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (1). Install bolts (1). Remove Tooling (A) and install remaining bolt (1). Tighten bolts (1) evenly to a torque of 120 ± 20 N·m (90 ± 15 lb ft).

4. Check the flywheel runout. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Flywheel - Inspect".

1. Install the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".
