613G Wheel Tractor-Scraper Steering System Caterpillar

Steering Time - Check

Usage:

613G DBE
Put the machine on a dry, hard surface. Start the engine and operate the engine at high idle. Raise the bowl and release the brakes. The time for a full turn must be 6.3 seconds to 7.6 seconds. A full turn is from stop to stop. Turning left or turning right must take the same amount of time. The maximum allowable difference between the steering times is 0.6 seconds.

(1) Shims

(2) Shims

In order to make the steering time faster, add shims (2). In order to make the steering time slower, remove shims (2). If the steering time is out-of-balance, add shims (1) .

If the time is different, check the steering system pressure.

ReferenceRefer to Testing and Adjusting, "Steering System Pressures - Test and Adjust" for information on checking the steering system pressure.
